How to distinguish mold grades? Let’s take a look at the five standards of American mould

The price of exported molds will be more expensive, but there are reasons why they are expensive because the standards are different. American Society of plastic industry (spian-102-78) divides molds into five categories. These five types of molds have different requirements and standards. This mold classification is only applicable to molds equipped with injection molding machines of 400 tons or less.

Type 101

The cycle can reach 1 million times, which is used for products with extremely high production capacity. It is made of the best mold materials, so the price is very expensive. The required standards are as follows:

(1) Detailed die design information is required.

(2) The hardness of mold embryo shall be bhn280 (HRC 30) at least.

(3) The die surface (including upper die and lower die) must be at least within the hardness range of bhn450 (48rc). Hard tool steel shall be used for all other accessories such as sliding block, inclined roof, coping, etc.

(4) The ejector must be equipped with guide parts.

(5) The side sliding block must be equipped with a loss plate.

(6) The temperature controller shall be installed on the upper die, lower die, sliding block or where possible on the die.

(7) In terms of mold life, due to the erosion of cooling water pipeline, the product quality is reduced and the injection cycle is increased. It is suggested that the embedded parts or templates with cooling water transportation should be subject to anti-corrosion treatment.

(8) All molds of this type shall be equipped with parting line locking mechanism.

Type 102

The cycle can reach 500000 to 1 million times. It is used for high-yield products. It is made of high-quality mold materials. The price is expensive. The required standards are as follows:

(1) Detailed die design information is required.

(2) The hardness of mold embryo shall be bhn280 (hrc30) at least.

(3) The surface hardness of upper die and lower die shall be within bhn540 (HRC 48). All other functional accessories shall be heat treated.

(4) Install the temperature controller on the upper die, lower die, sliding block or where possible on the die.

(5) All molds of this type shall be equipped with parting line locking mechanism.

(6) The following items may or may not be required, depending on the consideration of the final production quantity. It is recommended to make a confirmed quotation for these items.

Type 103

The cycle can reach 500000 times. The price is reasonable for products with medium production volume. The required standards are as follows:

(1) Detailed die design information is required.

(2) The hardness of mold embryo shall be bhn165 (hrc17) at least.

(3) The upper die and lower die must have at least bhn280 (hrc30) hardness or above.

(4) All other accessories are free to choose.

Type 104

The cycle can reach 100000 times. For low production products, the wear resistance of die materials is not high, and the price is lower than the general reasonable level. The required standards are as follows:

(1) It is recommended to have mold design data.

(2) The mold blank can be mild steel or aluminum metal.

(3) The upper mold can be aluminum metal, mild steel or other identifiable materials.

(4) All other accessories are free to choose.

Type 105

The cycle shall not exceed 500 times. It is used to produce a limited number of first boards. The price is very cheap. The required standards are as follows:

The die structure may be die casting material, epoxy resin or other materials that can provide sufficient strength to produce the minimum number of head plates.
